High School Only-This invitation to attend, in no way guarantees positions on the team or excludes those who have not been invited or are unable to participate this summer.

Summer is a great way to help players get better individually as well as building teamwork.  In June we will participate in Jamboree events that guarantee 3 games per day. We will be having several practices mixed in to prepare as well.  We will play 21 games this summer over 3 weeks.

The cost for the summer is $90 to cover Jamboree fees. The $90 can be paid at one time or paid in installments, but must be paid in full by June 1st (three $30 per month-April/May/June-payments or two $45 payments.)  Checks should be made payable to NCLA with Boys Basketball on the memo line and turned into Coach Shoemaker directly.

Everyone who pays will play every game.  This is a much less expensive way to prepare players than going to a Basketball Team Camp which would cost anywhere from $175-275 per player and will provide more games for us.

July has 2 dead periods where we can’t do any sport practices at all because of the NCHSAA.   July 1st-7th and 15th-21st are those dates. In July, players can schedule individual or small group workouts for those who can do so.
We will also host our own NCLA Jamboree event on June 18th & 20th to raise money for our basketball program.  We are in the process of getting 6 teams (3 have already committed) to come to NCLA and host games from 9am-6pm.   We will charge admission, charge an entry fee per team, and have concessions which the boys and any parents who are available will help work.  We will have to pay referees to officiate the game.

Also, we will be hosting a Basketball Camp for rising 4th-8th graders in the community in July from 8am-12pm on  July 8th-11th. I will need players to assist with camp and am working to get service hours for those who want to work the camp and who help with our Jamboree.

We will take a bus to away events.  Most Jamborees charge $5 admission if parents would like to attend games.  Most Jamboree games will be played mornings and afternoons.

Here are dates for June:
6th Practice 7-9pm (All practices at NCLA gym)
10th-13th Practice 7-8:30pm
14th/15th @ Asheboro HS Jamboree times TBA
17th Practice 7-8:30
18th @NCLA Jamboree 3 games/help work event
19th @ South Stokes HS Jamboree 3 games TBA
20th @NCLA Jamboree 3 games/help work event
25th Practice 7-8:30pm
27th Practice 7-8:30pm
28th/29th         @ North Davidson HS Jamboree times are TBA

HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER TRYOUTS!!!!!

High School Boys Soccer information for the Summer:

Boys soccer will be having some “Open Field” voluntary pre-season training sessions this summer before tryouts begin on July 30th.

All soccer players need to make sure they have an updated physical. If you are a “New Student” to the NCLA this fall, you can use a physical from your previous school if it is still current, but you must bring me a copy.

The training sessions will be from 7:00-8:30 pm and the dates will be July 8th, 9th, 11th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th and 29th.  The training will be on our NCLA soccer field or in the gym if raining. Please bring proper shoes for both situations and shin guards will be mandatory!

Soccer information will be communicated through the “Remind App”.   Parents and players MUST join the soccer group by signing up with the Code:  2gkka8.

Also, we will be having a soccer camp for the elementary and middle school students; June 10-13th from 8:30-12pm.  Soccer players are not required to be there, but can pick up service hours for working the camp and their participation would be greatly appreciated.  Players must sign up in order to work the camp so we don’t have too many helping out. Contact Coach Shoemaker if you are interested.

Looking forward to coaching the soccer team and excited about getting things kicked off in July for a great season ahead.

Thanks,

Coach Craig Shoemaker
